Best Fall Things to Do in Nashville (2026 Guide)

by Jason Lee

Fall in Nashville is the best season to be here

The heat breaks, the hills around the city turn red and gold, and every weekend fills with corn mazes, book festivals and patio nights. Whether you've lived in Middle Tennessee your whole life or you're thinking about moving to Nashville, this guide covers the best fall things to do in Nashville in 2026, from Davidson County out to Sumner, Williamson, Rutherford and Wilson counties.

I'm Jason Lee, a Nashville-area REALTOR® for 15 years, and fall is my favorite time to show people what living here actually feels like. Here's where to go.

Where to see Nashville fall foliage

Nashville's leaves typically peak from late October into early November, and you don't have to drive to the Smokies to see them.

  • Radnor Lake State Park (Oak Hill): The 2.4-mile Lake Trail is flat, stroller-friendly and lined with hardwoods. Go early on weekends; the lot fills fast.
  • Percy Warner Park (Belle Meade): Drive the 11.2-mile scenic loop or hike the Mossy Ridge Trail for long ridge views.
  • Natchez Trace Parkway (Williamson County): Stop at the Double Arch Bridge near Highway 96 for the classic fall photo over the valley.
  • Long Hunter State Park (Hermitage): Lakeside trails on Percy Priest Lake, with red maples along the Couchville Lake loop.
  • Bledsoe Creek State Park (Gallatin): A quieter Sumner County option with lake views and deer sightings at dusk.

Cozy fall day trips and patio spots

Some of the best fall afternoons happen just outside the city limits.

  • Arrington Vineyards (Arrington): Bring a blanket, grab a bottle and listen to weekend music on the hillside.
  • Leiper's Fork (Williamson County): Galleries, antiques and a slow drive down Old Hillsboro Road under the canopy.
  • Downtown Franklin: Main Street's shops and restaurants are at their best when Pumpkinfest takes over the last weekend of October.
  • Gallatin and Hendersonville squares (Sumner County): Locally owned restaurants plus sunset views on Old Hickory Lake.
  • Breeden's Orchard (Mt. Juliet): Cider tastings and fire pits on cool evenings.

Why fall is a smart time to buy a home in Nashville

Buyers have more choices this fall than last. Across the 10-county Nashville region, active inventory averaged 14,249 homes in September 2026, up 8% from a year earlier, and supply rose to 5.41 months. Homes took an average of 38 days to sell, versus 33 a year ago.

That extra time gives buyers room to negotiate repairs, closing costs or rate buydowns. The regional median sale price was $444,169, up about 2% year over year, and mortgage rates sat near 7.28% for a 30-year fixed on October 1 (Realtracs data via Grant Hammond).

Fall is also the best season to tour neighborhoods. You can drive a Hendersonville street at dusk, walk a Franklin farmers market and judge commute times without summer vacation traffic skewing them.
